Why academic writing first.
The take-home essay is where the loss of trustworthy evidence is felt first and most often: by instructors, every week, in every course that asks students to write.
It is also where a record of the writing process helps immediately. An instructor with the replay in front of them can clear most work in a glance, look closely at the rest, and talk with a student about what actually happened. So that is where we start: one course at a time, in the tools students already use.
